The Annual General Meeting of the Lotus Drivers Club will take place on Saturday 5 April 2025 at Sywell Aerodrome in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside.
Do you have an opinion on how your club should be run and what it does? This meeting is your chance to put your views forward. Do you want to be more involved with the club? This is the meeting to get yourself heard and action taken. If you are unsure about venturing forward at the meeting please send a message any time up to the 9 March to, chair@lotusdriversclub.org.uk. We will try to get back to you as quickly as possible giving ample time to discuss and research your points before the meeting.
We're pleased to announce that the Annual General Meeting will be held in the Cirrus Suite at the Aviator Hotel. The suite is the original Officers Mess built in the late 1930s at Sywell Aerodrome.
The meeting is open to members of the Lotus Drivers Club and there is no charge to attend. There are plenty of places to park your car. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are available upon arrival with additional refreshments in the Aviator Hotel if you wish to purchase them.
You may decide to arrive early and enjoy the opportunity to learn about aviation heritage at the Sywell Aviation Museum. Entry is free and the volunteers of the Museum Trust will welcome your visit. There is both a restaurant and a cafe available for lunch at your cost.
For those wanting to make a day of it, a number will be staying into the late afternoon/evening to have a social meeting. You are most welcome to join in. This will be the first meeting at its new venue for the Northamptonshire Area run by Alex Wainwright.
A statement, prepared by the Committee, will be relayed to the meeting by the Chairman and the Treasurer. The statement will cover the occurrences of 2024 and the financial position as of 31 December 2024, the club's financial year-end.
After this statement, the 2024/25 committee will stand down. All nominations for committee positions for 2025/26 will be read out and voted on by the members present. Existing committee members can put themselves forward for another year should they wish. Any new nominations received for a committee position will be read out to the meeting and the committee will recommend a course of action. The meeting will then vote on all applications. Acceptance to the committee is by a majority vote. If tied, the Chairman may use his vote as the deciding vote.
To apply for a committee position please go to ldclub.uk/agm-nominations and fill in the role you wish to apply for. An existing committee member will then contact you to run you through the process that is required. All nominations must be received by 9 March 2025. Please note, according to club rules the Vice Chair and Chair must be voted in from a serving committee member of 12 months or more.
A statement prepared by the Chairman will then outline the activities for 2025 and what is wished to be achieved. An opportunity for members to put forward their questions to the committee will be offered in a Q&A session. If any member has a question that they believe may cause debate the committee would be grateful if you could supply the question to chair@lotusdriversclub.org.uk by 9 March.
The address for the meeting is Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northamptonshire, NN6 0BN. If you plan to attend the meeting we please ask that you register, for free, here.
