Peter Hilton – Acorn to Oak Tree
Founded in 1984 by Director Peter Hilton, Hilton Group now occupies a site of some 3.5 acres. The story begins in a small double garage in rural Essex with Peter, having left college with a HND in Engineering, quickly realising he wanted to work for himself. Initially carrying out repairs on friends and family vehicles, Peter soon gained a reputation for repairing MG and Triumph vehicles alongside those of local young farmers who had a particular knack for decimating them.
Peter’s passion for returning something to its former glory, however unlikely that may have seemed, was the driving force and one that ultimately, still remains to this day. Building on the success of vehicle repairs, Castle Sportscars – an evolution of The TVR Centre Coachworks – was born in 2001 located in Stansted Mountfitchet, incorporating Castle Lotus and Castle TVR new car sales and service. Ever since, Lotus has been at the very core of the business.Hilton & Moss followed in 2010 as a specialist restoration division for classic vehicles specialising in Mercedes, Jaguar and Aston Martin models. Growing from strength to strength, all aspects of the business were combined on the current site, with a brand-new three storey facility the crowning jewel. Now approaching his 40th year in business, it is clear that Peter is not a man who rests on his laurels. With the support of a dedicated, trusted and hard working team the future is certainly bright.
Specialist Bodywork Repair
With more than 20 years’ experience in Lotus vehicles, it is no surprise that Hilton & Moss are experts in the repair of fibreglass vehicles. Whether it be an insurance repair or. otherwise, Hilton & Moss are the go-to repairer to get you back on the road, looking as good as new!
This Exige suffered front clam damage after being unable to avoid falling debris on a main road. To avoid full clam removal, the repair was kept local allowing repairs to be carried out cost effectively. The damaged area is repaired and then prepared for priming. With repairs complete, the local area is primed and final prep is completed, ready to receive the base colour. With 6 paint booths on site and a fully serviced mixing room, factory grade materials are used to ensure an exact paint match, resulting in an ‘as new’ finish.
